Social Responsibility
Improving life through House+Home.
Our Global Social Impact Strategy, House+Home
Around the world today, 1.8 billion people live in substandard housing, and the need for decent, affordable housing is only growing worldwide. Helping find solutions to these problems guides our approach to corporate social responsibility across the globe at Whirlpool Corporation. Through our House+Home Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, we enable comfortable, nurturing places to live and support resilient, thriving and sustainable communities through education programs.
House+Home

House
Our House initiatives focus on ensuring everyone can have a place to live that is comfortable and nurturing, a place where families can make healthy choices and build their best life. Our employees volunteer to build houses and improve housing adequacy alongside world-leading organizations like Habitat for Humanity®.

Home
Our Home initiatives focus on developing resilient, vibrant neighborhoods through education. Most of our operations are located in small towns and we embrace our responsibility to support these communities. Together, with local businesses, government and nonprofits, we help to improve the quality of life for all residents in our neighborhoods. To achieve these objectives, we work with organizations like United Way, Boys and Girls Club of America and Consulado da Mulher in Brazil.

The Washing Machine Project Supported By Whirlpool Foundation
Whirlpool and The Washing Machine Project: Approximately 60% of the global population relies on washing clothes by hand. To help save time and improve quality of life, the Whirlpool Foundation is supporting The Washing Machine Project, a grassroots organization that provides off-grid manual washing machines to people in low-income and displaced communities who don’t have access to stable electricity and/or running water. Whirlpool engineers are helping refine the design of the machine and employee volunteers assemble units. Together, we’ll deliver thousands of manual washing machines, saving time for learning and income-generating activities.
