Pledge Commitment Met.

After breaking ground in 2021, construction began on the waterfront multi-family housing complex situated in Benton Harbor across the street from Whirlpool’s North American Headquarters and Benton Harbor Technology Center. Named after Benton Harbor’s first female mayor, Emma Jean Hull, the 80 units will house ~100 residents, including Hometown Heroes, and generate revenue for the city through taxes and anticipated spending with local businesses. The ribbon cutting celebrated the work of former Mayor Hull and the bright future for Benton Harbor.

“Our new home is absolutely perfect. Our apartment checks everything off our “needs & wants” list. Especially the spectacular view from the rooftop deck! We have a small dog, Oliver, he loves the dog park and to walk along the canal. I love the spacious kitchen and all of the brand-new Whirlpool appliances, and my husband appreciates the workout facility. Both my husband and I are enjoying the social and cultural diversity of the residents and getting to know them, while accessing the close restaurants that are within walking distance located in downtown Benton Harbor.”

“We want to grow our city and continue to make it a place that welcomes all people and creates opportunities, especially for potential new hires of employers relocating to the area, our Hometown Heroes, graduates, returning to the community from our local high schools, community colleges and skilled trade professionals who want to call Benton Harbor their home.”

– Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad
