The report highlights Whirlpool Corporation’s progress toward greenhouse gas reduction goals, increasingly sustainable products and continued investments in people and communities.

Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) released its 2024 Sustainability Report today, reiterating the company’s commitment to improving life at home via sustainable products and operations; employee and community support; and continued transparency and accountability.

“For more than 110 years, our products have been used daily in the homes of our consumers — an honor we aim to earn and keep each day,” said Marc Bitzer, chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corporation. “Their challenges become our challenges, inspiring us to continually innovate and move forward on our commitments to create products that are more resource-efficient, improve the sustainability of our manufacturing and invest in our people and the places we call home.”

Progress detailed in the 2024 Whirlpool Corporation Sustainability Report includes:

  • Reduced scopes 1 and 2 market-based emissions by 36% compared to 2023, driven equally by energy management activities and the divestiture of the company’s EMEA region. 2024 is the third consecutive year of double-digit reductions of scopes 1 and 2 emissions
  • Matched 100% of electricity consumption for U.S. plant operations not generated from on-site renewable energy through two virtual power purchasing agreements
  • Achieved a 97% or higher landfill diversion rate in all large global manufacturing sites
  • Celebrated 25 years with Habitat for Humanity International in 2024. In the last quarter century, Whirlpool Corp. has donated 250,000 appliances, provided $150 million in funding, supported thousands of employee volunteers and positively impacted more than 1 million people in the U.S. and around the world via work with Habitat
  • Whirlpool Foundation began supporting The Washing Machine Project, a grassroots organization that provides off-grid manual washing machines to people in low-income and displaced communities, with Whirlpool Corp. employees volunteering their time and talent to support product design and assembly
