Today the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized Whirlpool Corporation with the 2017 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award for Sustained Excellence. Whirlpool Corporation received the award for manufacturing energy-efficient kitchen and laundry appliances that make outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
“The 2017 award reflects our many products that continue to demonstrate efficient energy performance,” said Ron Voglewede, global sustainability director for Whirlpool Corporation. “Whirlpool Corporation has a 47-year commitment to sustainability and a long-standing history of balancing energy efficiency with consumer needs. We are proud of recognitions like these and remain focused on delivering sustainable and innovative solutions.”
This year’s recognition is the 26th ENERGY STAR award that Whirlpool Corporation has won in the United States and the 39th ENERGY STAR award across the United States and Canada, more than any other appliance manufacturer.
“Across our nine U.S. manufacturing operations, and in our global technology and design centers in Michigan, our employees are dedicated to building home appliance products that save energy and water without compromising performance,” said Joe Liotine, President North America for Whirlpool Corporation. “Of the products we make, more than 80 percent of the products we sell in the United States are assembled in the United States.”
Whirlpool Corporation was recognized this year specifically for introducing two new models of heat pump dryers, its continued training activities with employees and retailers about ENERGY STAR and energy efficiency, its collaborative social media promotions with ENERGY STAR, and its increased focus on sustainability initiatives overall.
