As companies around the globe celebrate the amazing work of women engineers for International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) on June 23, Whirlpool Corporation would like to congratulate Vice President, Global Product Organization, Pam Klyn who was recently inducted into the Mechanical Engineering Academy at Michigan Technological University.
The engineering education she received from MTU provided a great foundation for her to make significant impacts in Whirlpool and in the community.”
The purpose of the Academy is to honor outstanding graduates of the Michigan Technological University Department of Mechanical Engineering. Selection into the Academy recognizes excellence and leadership in engineering and civic affairs. This induction honors some of the most successful alumni of Michigan Tech’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. To date, only 88 of the 14,000 alumni dating back to 1932 have been selected for this honor.
Endowed Department Chair William W. Predebon said, “This year’s inductees have made a significant impact in their professions and have risen to the top levels of major corporations, professional societies, and universities.”
Klyn, who started her career with Whirlpool Corporation after graduating from Michigan Technological University in 1993 said, “This was a genuine surprise and a great honor. I look back at my time at Michigan Tech with gratitude for the outstanding education I received, the problem-solving skills I developed, and the lifelong friendships that were created during my four years there. This recognition was especially significant to me personally as my father is also an MTU Alumnae. Thanks to the virtual format, my parents were able to join me in person to attend the ceremony and to hear the speeches from my fellow inductees.”
“Pam continues to be a valued member of our GPO Leadership Team and it’s great to see her recognized with this academic honor for her tremendous accomplishments,” said Senior VP, GPO, Roberto Campos. “The engineering education she received from MTU provided a great foundation for her to make significant impacts in Whirlpool and in the community.”
