Out & Equal Workplace Advocates recognized our very own Erin Brown as a 2018 Champion Award Winner. The Champion Award recognizes any LGBT person or ally who has made a significant contribution to advancing equality in their workplace. Nominees have shown a unique commitment to LGBT workplace rights and have used their talents to further that cause, even at some risk. The 10 Champions of LGBT equality were recognized at the annual Momentum Gala Celebration on March 29, 2018.
“This is very well deserved and not surprising, as Erin has been a tireless driver of diversity with inclusion at Whirlpool Corporation and within our community for many years,” said Brett Dibkey, VP brand & strategy. “Very simply, Erin Brown is a leader.”
Erin is the first-ever straight ally co-lead of our Pride Employee Resource Group. The Pride ERG aligns our values of Integrity, Respect, Diversity and Inclusion, Teamwork and a Spirit of Winning. Our company has been creating products for a century that enhance the home with the knowledge that all types of families need to be welcomed, included and celebrated. This mindset made us the first and only appliance manufacturer to receive a 100 score from the Human Rights Campaign since the initial honor was awarded in 2003.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to support LGBT equality in the workplace and our community,” said Erin. “I want to thank my LGBT friends and colleagues–as they inspire me to speak out as an ally!”
