Pam Klyn has worked at the same place since she graduated. But it’s taken her all over the world.
Klyn stepped into the role of senior vice president of corporate relations and sustainability at Whirlpool Corp. at the beginning of this year.
In her decades-long career at the Benton Harbor appliance maker, she’s worked in both the engineering and marketing sides of the business, work that’s taken her across state lines to Findlay, Ohio, and across the ocean to Milan, Italy.
“Whirlpool has been a fantastic place to work,” she said. “The values are really important to me, and I think we’ve stayed true to those values.”
Before she was a Whirlpool executive, she was a Little Leaguer who dreamed of being the second baseman for the Detroit Tigers. As one of only two girls in her local league, her parents never tried to convince her otherwise.
“They never bothered to tell me I couldn’t. They knew it would work itself out. …” she said. “I’ve always had that supportive structure.” Link to full Herald-Palladium article
