Whirlpool Corporation is opening a new distribution center in northern California, providing better service to the region and bringing its total number of regional distribution centers in the U.S. to 13. That number includes an existing warehouse in Perris, Calif., which serves southern California, Arizona and parts of Nevada.
The company is leasing the new facility, which is approximately 451,000 square feet, and is a full-mix warehouse, stocking major appliances from all of the company’s brands and product categories. It will serve northern California, including San Francisco, Sacramento, Calif. and Stockton, Calif., as well as the Reno, Nev. area.
“This expansion of our distribution network is part of our commitment to meeting the needs of our consumers and trade customers,” said Alison Jones, senior director, Customer Fulfillment. “The additional space will improve our flexibility, increase our efficiency, and provide needed space for our growing business.”
Jones said Ryder Logistics will manage the new warehouse, which is expected to employ approximately 50 people.
The company expects the facility to become operational in mid-February, with the first shipments in mid-March.
