Although it’s hard to tell, “Premium” – Whirlpool Corporation’s Amana Operations plant mascot – is smiling behind the PPE face mask he wears inside and outside the manufacturing facility. The mascot is smiling after traveling a few blocks from the manufacturing plant to help Whirlpool Corporation express its appreciation for the workers at Colonial Manor, a neighboring retirement community where 50 residents receive around the clock care from approximately 100 healthcare professionals.
Whirlpool Amana Operations provided hot, delicious meals for healthcare workers from County Line Catering and BBQ on Monday, May 11. “Colonial Manor has been a good neighbor to Whirlpool for decades and we know the healthcare workers are facing more challenges than ever,” said Kevin Bradley, Human Resources director at the plant. “We want them to know we appreciate the work they do and we support them. That’s what neighbors do for one another.”
Joe Glass, Life Enrichment Director for the retirement community said, “Beautiful things are emerging from this ugly situation, things like the kind acts from our corporate neighbors like Whirlpool.” He expressed gratitude for the support of families of residents also, since the nursing home’s no visitor policy was initiated in late February. “We thank Whirlpool for their thoughtful actions. This is simply a time to love and care for one another in the best way we can,” said Glass.
