30 November 2016, Italy – Whirlpool has won the Internet of Things (IoT) award in the “Smart Home” category for its 6th Sense Live Technology. The recognition was announced by ADC Group at its 5th NC Digital Awards.
IoT is one of the most promising sectors at the moment thanks to a number of increasingly connected products and to a steadily growing market. According to the latest OECD projections, its global turnover is expected to reach $14 trillion by 2030.
The prize was awarded in the “Smart Home” category and comes as a recognition of the innovativeness of the app 6th Sense Live Technology, launched in June 2016.

The app 6th Sense Live Technology allows consumers to interact remotely with their home appliances, adding value to the device they already own and at the same time making the user experience even more intuitive. With the app, consumers can communicate with their appliances at anytime and from any place through an extremely intuitive and practical user interface. An automatic notification system guarantees the products work in total safety.
To further confirm the commitment to Internet of Things, Whirlpool brand has recently developed IFTTT compatibility for its suite of connected appliances. Thanks to this incredibly powerful cloud based web-service, the user can connect to a wide range of apps, services and products, helping to forge links between the digital services, and paving the way for functionality and unique and innovative solutions of home automation.
Internet Of Things Awards, at its first edition, is a result of collaboration between Silicio, founded by Gabriele Di Matteo, and ADC Group, a publishing company. The projects were judged by a panel of experts comprising: Maurizio Riva, Director of Multinational Clients Intel EMEA, Angela Tumino, IoT Observatory of Politecnico di Milano, Industrial Designer Marco Ferreri, Almir Ambeskovic, Country Manager Tripadvisor/The Fork and Giovanni Bergamaschi, Country Manager Fitbit.
