Employees give an hour’s work and the Company doubles their contribution, as well as donating its products
Comerio (Varese) – Whirlpool Corporation has mobilized once again in support of the Italian Red Cross (IRC), this time to offer concrete aid to the victims of the earthquake that struck Central Italy on 24 August. In collaboration with its employees and their trade unions, a payroll giving initiative will enable all Whirlpool employees to donate the equivalent value of an hour of their work (deducted from payroll) in support of IRC aid to the people affected by the earthquake. On its part, Whirlpool will double up the value of its employees’ donations with its own contribution, on a matching donation basis.
Whirlpool will also collaborate with the Italian Red Cross in the phase of returning to normal, by donating home appliances for families stricken by the earthquake in August.
“Having begun our collaboration with the IRC on their initiative in support of migrants at the beginning of this year, we now wish to show our solidarity with and above all give concrete aid to the people stricken by the earthquake that devastated parts of central Italy, where we have operated for over 30 years, through our facility in Comunanza (Ascoli Piceno),” – said Esther Berrozpe Galindo, President Whirlpool EMEA and Executive Vice-President Whirlpool Corporation. “This initiative sees our employees and the Company working together to support the Italian Red Cross both in the emergency phase and during reconstruction.”
