Paulo Periquito was named president of Whirlpool International on June 5, 2007 and is responsible for Latin America, Europe and Asia regions.

He joined Whirlpool in 1996.  The following year, he was promoted to the  position of executive vice president and president, Latin America.

Prior to joining Whirlpool, Periquito held several positions with Alcoa Aluma S.A., a Latin American subsidiary of Aluminum Company of America for more than 20 years.

At Alcoa, he held several leadership positions in information technology, procurement, logistics, human resources, total quality, strategic planning, finance and administration.  He also held general manager and vice president positions of several business units and led the creation of a retailing company for Home Building Products.  In 1989, he was named Alcoa chief financial officer for Latin America and was also elected member of the Alcoa board of directors in Mexico.  From 1991 to 1993, he assumed responsibility as chief executive officer of Grupo Aluma (an Alcoa subsidiary in Mexico).  In 1994, Periquito was named executive vice president (responsible for all operations) and member of the board for Alcoa in Latin America.

Currently, Periquito is also a member of the Advisory Board for ABN-AMRO Bank in  Brazil.

A native of Recife in Pernambuco, Brazil, Periquito holds a degree in mechanical engineering.
