National Manufacturing Day - Byron Green

National Manufacturing Day is Friday, October 5 and this marks the fourth consecutive year our U.S. manufacturing plants will host open-houses and events in their communities for students and teachers to learn more about manufacturing careers. We’re looking forward to dispelling common myths about manufacturing and showing our guests first-hand how manufacturing jobs use the latest technologies, are secure and rewarding, and provide numerous opportunities for growth.

One of the reasons why Whirlpool Corporation products can be found in more than 3 out of 4 U.S. homes is our people. Our nine U.S. plants employ more than 17,000 men and women, who assemble and build home appliances our consumers count on to make their lives better.

National Manufacturing Day - Byron Green

I’m proud to work for the number one appliance manufacturer in the world and I’m equally proud to work in manufacturing because I know it’s critical for a strong economy. Did you know for every $1 spent in manufacturing, another $1.89 is added to the economy. That’s the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector. In addition, for every one worker in manufacturing, there are another four employees hired elsewhere to support manufacturing.*

While National Manufacturing Day is the first Friday of October, at Whirlpool Corporation we celebrate it all month long. Over the next few weeks you’ll hear from several of our manufacturing employees and see the people and communities that make our plants so special in our #PlacesThatMatter video series.

Please join me in recognizing our manufacturing workforce by staying tuned as we celebrate excellence in manufacturing operations.
